Car Lights in the Future
The Future of Car lights is looking bright, they have come a long way since the first cars began to appear, first with gas lanterns,
followed by various means of being seen by pedestrians and other road users and lighting the
way at night.
But what of the future. What better way of 'lighting the way' will we have on our mode of transport.
HID & LED technologies will continue to gain ground in vehicle bulbs and lighting assemblies
throught 2009.
- In car head lights, HID lamps are expected to replace halogen units in the mainstream. Models
will come in a wider selection of bulb types and sockets to fit most cars.
- Conversion kits will be easier to install. Australia, Asia, South America, North America
Eastern Europe and the Middle East will be the target markets of these products.
- LED's will remain the trend for interior and exterior auxiliary lighting systems. Research
on these for forward illumination will also continue to advance, mainly on boosting lumen output,
meeting luminance requirements and managing heat emission.
- LED car headlights are expected to be available commercially within the next two years.
Headlight manufacturing companies will set a new trend next year by switching car head lights to LED lights. At present, these companies are currently making very small LED's for car head lights of the future.
LED's are currently being used in traffic lights and in car tail lights, and when car manufacturers begin mass-producing cars with LED's as headlights it will not only make the car head lights brighter but also help light up roads at night.
. LED lights not only look sleek and sophisticated but they will also last a lot longer. Audi began using LEDs as headlights with their A8 model, and eventually used LEDs as headlights in their S6 and S8 models. LEDs are also used in Audi's newly released R8 sports car, which is truly one of the classiest and slickest cars on the road
